At LA CoMotion 2018, Woods Bagot and SUPERSPACE, hosted a special workshop event to introduce, explore, and refine its major research and design study, MORE LA: Transforming Parking to Places in Southern California.
The MORE LA study builds on the premise that the major changes now underway in the region’s transportation—and even more transformative changes expected in the near-future—will allow extraordinary development opportunities for Los Angeles, America’s second largest metropolis and a worldwide pioneer in new modes of urban transportation.
If all the parking lots in LA County were developed with residential units to the density and space standards matching their surroundings, those lots could house between 1.5 to 3 million people.
SUPERSPACE has developed an interactive survey that allows users to explore the untapped potential of LA’s parking lots and to voice their opinion about the balance of open space vs density that they’d like to see in a hypothetical scenario of LA development.
